Starting territory:
-All of the islands between Canada and Greenland (of which, the capital city: Cape Sheridan, is located on the northern island of Ellesmere).
-Greenland
-Russian Oblasts of: Arkhangelsk (including Franz Josef Land, and the Novaya Zemlya Islands), and the oblast of Vologda.
-Canadian territories of Nunavut, Quebec and the province of Labrador & Newfoundland.

Government type: Federal, Republic, Democratic.
Each island / province of the nation is a federal state, and has a small government, answerable to the Federal Government, seated in Cape Sheridan.

Religion: The people of Ellesmere are not religious at all and are atheists. The state endorses no particular belief system, faith is kept out of politics and education etc. .

30% live on the Ellesmerian Islands
25% live in the Canadian territories
25% live in the Russian territories
20% live in Greenland

Official Language(s):
All Ellesmerian citizens are educated to speak English, German and Russian at a young age, and so most citizens are able to speak all 3 as a mother tongue, all citizens over 18 years of age are at least capable of understanding all 3 of the languages.
English is dominant in politics, and is based on the northern and western Ellesmerian islands, and in Canada. German is dominant in the southern / eastern of the Ellesmerian islands, and on Greenland. Russian is dominant within the Russian oblasts.

Currency: Ellesmere Mark (EM)
Valued equal to the Swiss Franc, this is printed by the Monetary Policy Committee at the Bank of Cape Sheridan, independent to party politics and the government.

Starting technologies:
-Advanced oil bore technology, allows the exploration and extraction of oil to be a quicker affair.
-Efficient renewable geothermal technology - used by many of the nations power stations.
-The Navy also boasts stealth submarines.

The oil rigs of Ellesmere are located in the Arctic Sea, Baffin Bay, Canada and Russia. Coal mines are located in Russia and Greenland.

The nation is a very successful exporter of mined metals / minerals, many of the islands / provinces boast such resources, and the mining industry is quite visible.

Agriculture in Ellesmere is a very difficult trade in the cold climates, and so the activity is done only in the South of the Canadian territories, in the vicinity of Hudson Bay. The province of Vologda in Russia, provides most of the agriculture however, due to its temperate climate and good soils. Fish is a staple component of an Ellesmerian diet.

Behold, the glorious flag of the Federal Republic of Ellesmere!

Although at first glance, the central coat of arms bearing the hammer and sickle looks communist, it is actually nothing of the sort but rather, combined with the crown, symbolizes the unity between the policy makers (crown), the bourgeoisie (hammer) and the workers (sickle) of the nation. The eagle is also bearing broken shackles, which represents the freedom of movement and general liberty the nation's military has provided by providing construction of infrastructure, allowing habitation of such a harsh climate. Blue is a major theme of the flag and central coat, it symbolizes the countries harmony and closeness with the sea, lakes and ice of it's environment.
